Book Review Of “When You Lived In My Belly” By Jodi Meltzer Darter @mommydish @MascotBooks @PACE_PR

Inspired by her young son’s question, “What was it like when I lived in your belly?”, Darter authored When You Lived in my Belly (available for presale now and out August 6). A delightful storytelling of pregnancy from the perspective of both baby and mom, When You Lived in My Belly gives children a glimpse into a past they can’t remember, and takes moms back to a time they will never forget.

When You Lived in My Belly features kid-friendly descriptions of the milestones babies reach in utero, coupled with the corresponding physical and emotional changes experienced by moms. Darter shares personal experiences with pregnancy that all moms can relate to, from early cravings to the baby’s first movements to kissing her newborn. The book is a keepsake treasure that fosters meaningful conversations between mothers and children, with a page for moms to pen a note to their child about their individual pregnancy journey.

When You Lived in My Belly turns otherwise difficult material into a fun storytelling experience with whimsical text and colorful illustrations. The release is perfectly timed for summer, when most families slow down a bit and have more time to read with their children.

Gavin and Liam Say “we like it!!”

I love that this book answers the “what was it like when I was in your belly?” question that I get rather frequently. My boys are amazed that they were both in my tummy at the same time, and they are always asking me questions about it, and wanting to see photos.

I love that this book is written in such a poetic/lyrical way, it made it more attention grabbing for my boys, and I appreciated how sweet and tender it was. It made me miss being pregnant actually. Darter wrote it starting from Month One, until the day baby was born, and in a very short and sweet manor, wrote what happened each month in the pregnancy. I loved it.

The illustrations were soft, and sweet, and well done. I really liked that it was a mixture of water color and photographs. It put a very eye catching spin on a Children’s Book. I am so happy that we were approached about this book, because I just really liked it, and I enjoyed sharing those moments/memories of my pregnancy with them.

I think this book would make an awesome keepsake for any new mom’s you know. There is also a journal space in the back of the book where you can write a sweet message to your child. Making this a perfect gift!

This book is out August 6th. I am including the Amazon link below to Pre-Order.
