Thank you to the Harlequin Publicity Team for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I rate this book a 4 out of 5 Stars.
This was so well written. It was a beautiful story, about a horrific time. There were parts of this book that just hurt my heart, unspeakable acts against men, women, and children. A time I could never imagine having to live through.
I did like the alternating timelines, and the alternating POV. I think they were very well done. Both storylines, were heart wrenching, both in equal ways. From Nazi-Poland to Modern Day America. What both families go through is an emotional journey, that had my eyes leaking, and my heart breaking.
Reading this book, and watching what unfolds for both Babica and Alice, was truly an experience. My biggest question was what happened to Alina and Tomasz. They were the driving force of this book, and what made it unputdownable for me.
That ending, was one of the most beautiful endings I have read in a long while. I should say the I adored the last 100 pages. This was my first Kelly Rimmer book, however I do have BEFORE I LET YOU GO, and after reading this, I want to say screw my TBR, and any review book that I have, and pick it up immediately. But I know that my heart cannot take it. But I will, soon.
Kelly, that you for writing about a time in our world that was so horrible, and hurtful, and still so hard for me to wrap my head around. That mankind, did this to mankind. Thank you for writing such a beautiful love story. More than just Tomasz and Alina. Love stories about friends, about family, and love for each other. Job well done.
