Thank you to The Novl for gifting me an ARC in exchange of an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I rate this a 3 out of 5 Stars.
Okay, so this is the most interesting YA books that I have read in a long while. It was weird, but very creative, and a really great prose. I love all the bases it touched upon, and I feel like this should be a must read for young readers. It had diverse characters, it touched on sexual abuse, feminism, revenge, alcoholism, and dealing with your feelings and standing up for yourself. The way that Magpie dealt with all of this was a bit unorthodox, but it worked well in this setting.
This was such a fast read, and I was so intrigued by the story, and I wanted to find out Near, and how this place came to be, was it Mental Illness? Was it her imagination? I still don’t really know, but it was really cool, and I liked the uncertainty of it. I LOVED the ending, it was absolutely perfect, and I do hope that it means there is going to be a second book!
