Book Review Of “Stalker” By Lars Kepler @AAKnopf @crimebythebook

True to form, Kepler delivers a gripping, unputdownable thriller in STALKER. This book reads like a cross between your favorite serial killer thriller and the work of Scandinavian crime fiction greats like Stieg Larsson and Jo Nesbo. It’s gritty, action-packed, and completely addictive. Bonus: this book also features one of the most compelling villains I’ve ever read – an individual with a fascinating backstory you won’t want to look away from.

In STALKER, the Swedish National Crime Unit receives a video of a young woman in her home, clearly unaware that she’s being watched. Soon after the tape is received, the woman’s body is found horrifically mutilated. With the arrival of the next, similar video, the police understand that the killer is toying with them, warning of a new victim, knowing there’s nothing they can do. Detective Margot Silverman is put in charge of the investigation, and soon asks Detective Joona Linna for help. Linna, in turn, recruits Erik Maria Bark, the hypnotist and expert in trauma, with whom Linna’s worked before. Bark is leery of forcing people to give up their secrets. But this time, Bark is the one hiding things. Years before, he had put a man away for an eerily similar crime, and now he’s beginning to think that an innocent man may be behind bars–and a serial killer still on the loose…

We’re seeing incredible early praise for STALKER, including outstanding quotes from Meg Gardiner and J.D. Barker:

“Dark, complex, and chillingly intelligent, STALKER hooks you on page one and never relents. Lars Kepler’s vivid, visceral thriller had me holding my breath to the last page.” —Meg Gardiner, Edgar-winning author of UNSUB and Into the Black Nowhere

“An intricate plot and escalating tension set the stage for this tense, clever, pulse-pounding thriller.” —J.D. Barker, international best-selling author of The Fourth Monkey

Thank you Alfred A Knopf and Abby Endler for gifting me a copy of this book, and inviting me on to the Blog Tour.

I rate this book a 4 out of 5 Stars.

I loved THE SANDMAN, and I was so in love with the character of Joona. I was blown away with how much I loved the book, and its incredible ending. So when I was approached about THE STALKER, I would have been a fool to say no.

THE SANDMAN, has risen the bar again! This book was phenomenal, and truly unputdownable. I feel like I don’t read books that make me feel that way too often.

Keplers character development, and the richness that he develops in his plots are impressive. He truly writes a book, that sucks me in, and keeps it’s deathgrip until I reach the last page.

I want to add, while this is the 5th book in the series, it will read very easily as a standalone. I started this series, 4 books in, and I was able to learn the back story, and follow right along. I don’t want to go too much in depth with this review, and talk about potential spoilers. So I am going to cut this review short. Final statement is, Read this series guys!
