For fans of television shows Black Mirror and Westworld, this compelling, mind-bending novel is a twisted look into the future, exploring how far we will go to remake ourselves into the perfect human specimen and what it means to be human at all.
Set in our world, spanning the near to distant futures, Stronger, Faster, and More Beautiful is a novel made up of six interconnected stories that ask how far we will go to remake ourselves into the perfect human specimens, and how hard that will push the definition of “human.”
This extraordinary work explores the amazing possibilities of genetic manipulation and life extension, as well as the ethical quandaries that will arise with these advances. The results range from the heavenly to the monstrous. Deeply thoughtful, poignant, horrifying, and action-packed, Arwen Elys Dayton’s Stronger, Faster, and More Beautiful is groundbreaking in both form and substance.
MY REVIEW- I didn’t get to finish the book 100% before my blog tour came, so I apologize beforehand. What I did get to read I really enjoyed. it was a pretty wild concept, and very intriguing. I love books like this, they have a sort of realism to them, and it always makes me think “What if?”. I enjoyed Daytons writing style, I felt that she had built a very imaginative world, I liked the narrative, and from what I can tell so far, the characters are likeable, fun, and very well-developed.
Funny that my husband and I were just talking about genetic mutation, and what situations we felt it was okay to do. There was recently a doctor in China who used DNA mutation on embryos. He said it was to element the cells in the body that cause HIV/AIDS, that is something I can support. But in the other hand, those who use these medical advances for designer babies is not something I can get behind. I appreciated this book for tackling such a tough topic, and for showing other views on it, while making it fun, fast paced, and very addictive. From what I’ve read so far, I am in for a treat.
