About The Book:
Title: BRIGHT WE BURN
Author: Kiersten White
Pub. Date: July 10, 2018
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Formats: Hardcover, eBook, audiobook
Haunted by the sacrifices he made in Constantinople, Radu is called back to the new capital. Mehmed is building an empire, becoming the sultan his people need. But Mehmed has a secret: as emperor, he is more powerful than ever . . . and desperately lonely. Does this mean Radu can finally have more with Mehmed . . . and would he even want it?
Lada’s rule of absolute justice has created a Wallachia free of crime. But Lada won’t rest until everyone knows that her country’s borders are inviolable. Determined to send a message of defiance, she has the bodies of Mehmed’s peace envoy delivered to him, leaving Radu and Mehmed with no choice. If Lada is allowed to continue, only death will prosper. They must go to war against the girl prince.
But Mehmed knows that he loves her. He understands her. She must lose to him so he can keep her safe. Radu alone fears that they are underestimating his sister’s indomitable will. Only by destroying everything that came before–including her relationships–can Lada truly build the country she wants.
Claim the throne. Demand the crown. Rule the world. (From Rockstar Book Tours)

I rate this book a 4 out of 5 Stars.
The first book I was Meh, the second book I was falling, by the third and final book I was in love. The complexity of Lada and Radu is what made this series so incredible for me. Lada is fierce, and loyal to her men, and her beliefs, she does not need to stand next to a Prince to rule, she IS the Prince. She fought for what she wanted since she was a little girl. Radu spent the first two books being in love with someone, who would never love him back, and I’m glad he finally opened his eyes to that. Lada and Radu were so completely opposite it’s hard to believe they were siblings. Kind of nice that the author made the male character the “pretty and sensitive” one, and not the girl, like most YA books.
With Mehmed, I spent a lot of the series disliking him, and bouncing back and forth with what I wanted to happen to him. I’m okay with how things ended, and I think that the Author ended this book perfectly, I do not think that I would want to change one thing.
I applaud her for writing something so rough, and violent, and gory. There was definitely some cringe-worthy scenes. She has remarkable world building skills, so detailed, I could easily visualize what was written within the pages. Also I want to add, she didn’t make Lada, a perfect, beautiful, skinny YA Princess. Lada was “ugly” as mentioned a few times in the series, with a “Wide waist” and “large Chest” with tangled, unkept hair, and I love it! I will forever be a fan of White’s writing, and now I cannot wait to get my hands on more!
