Book Review Of “Bring Me Back” By B.A. Paris @stmartinspress @BAParisAuthor
A young British couple are driving through France on holiday when they stop for gas. He runs in to pay, she stays in the car. When he returns her car door has been left open, but she’s not inside. No one ever sees her again.
Ten years later he’s engaged to be married; he’s happy, and his past is only a tiny part his life now. Until he comes home from work and finds his new wife-to-be is sitting on their sofa. She’s turning something over in her fingers, holding it up to the light. Something that would have no worth to anyone else, something only he and she would know about because his wife is the sister of his missing first love.
As more and more questions are raised, their marriage becomes strained. Has his first love somehow come back to him after all this time? Or is the person who took her playing games with his mind. (Synopsis and photo from goodreads)
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martins Press for the free copy of this book, in exchange of an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Okay, So Behind Closed Doors, is the book that started me on the road to obession with Domestic Thrillers, I love that book, still to this day I remember the way I felt reading it, I was terrified. Her second book, The Breakdown was great too, and now her new third book was fabulous.
There was something about this book, I couldn’t put it down. I really felt like I just devoured it. I wanted to find out what really happened to Layla, and I needed to know if Finn did something to her, I had so many theories running through my head, ultimately none of my theories were right.
The character development in this book was spot on, you get the trust no one vibe, and really all of them are unreliable in one way or another. This was a gripping, bite your nails, hold on to the edge of your seat, one more chapter book, and I loved every second of it! I will add, the only negative I could think of, is that I was slightly sad with how it ended. I’m not sure if it was at all believable, but I appreciate Paris thinking outside of the box, and doing something different with her books. I know this one is getting a lot of mixed reviews, but for every one bad review, there is 5 amazing ones. So please keep that in mind when making up your mind if you want to read this one or not.
B.A. Paris is a writing genius. I have been entranced by all of her books, and each one has new fresh, creative ideas. I absolutely cannot wait to see what she comes up with next.
