Blog Tour And Book Review For “Friends And Other Liars” By Kaela Coble @kaelacoble @Sourcebooks

To all my old friends:
So here you all are. Nice to see you can show up for a person once he’s dead.

When Ruby St. James returns to her hometown, it is to the grave of her old friend Danny, a member of a group that was, ten years ago, Ruby’s whole world. The crew made a pact back then: stay together, stay loyal, and stay honest. But that was before all of the lies.

Because even friends keep secrets. They just don’t stay secret for long.

Now Danny has left behind a letter for each of them, issuing one final ultimatum: share your darkest betrayal to the group, or risk it coming out in a trap he has created. When past mistakes resurface, the lines of friendship blurb, and four old friends are left trying to understand what it means to lie to the ones you love best. (From Goodreads)

Thank you to Sourcebooks (Landmark) For sending me this free copy and inviting me onto this blog tour. All opinions are my own.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

I was hooked within the first 5 pages, The first letter that Danny wrote was so gripping that it pulled me right in. I was itching to know what everyone’s secrets were and why he felt a certain way towards them. This is the first book in a while where I have enjoyed every character. They all had something that I loved about them. If I were a fictional character, and could be placed in a book, I’d want to be in this one, and part  of “The Crew”

I think I would classify this book as a Dramance (Drama and Romance) This book was very much about love, love between friends, best friends, husbands, wives, and parents. There was drama, and lots of it. I appreciated the secrets, they were dark, painful, and pretty intense for an average high-school kid. I felt that was very multi layered plot. There was so much to every character, both their past and the present. Nothing about them was simple. I thought that I had figured out what their secrets were, but even when I had them right, there was another layer to the secret, so it still had that shock factor.

Ruby, Danny, and Murphy, were my favorite characters in this book. While reading it, I was reminiscent of my high-school days, and my tight close-knit group of friends, we always swore we’d be close, that nothing would ever drive us apart. They are some of the best memories of my life. We did lose touch, and we did fall apart though. I felt connected to the story. Some of the things that happened in this book, I went through with my own friends, so it was very much relatable for me. Which I think is a reason I loved this book so much. I will say, and this is the only negative. I wanted a certain ending for Ruby, and I was sad she didn’t get it.

I Loved Kaela Coble’s writing style, she is definitely an author that I will read from here on out. I thought this was a great read, I inhaled it, for me, it really was unputdownable!
