Blog Tour and Review Of “Snare” By Lilja Sigurdardottir @lilja1972 @orendabooks @annecater
After a messy divorce, attractive young mother Sonia is struggling to provide for herself and keep custody of her son. With her back to the wall, she resorts to smuggling cocaine into Iceland, and finds herself caught up in a ruthless criminal world. As she desperately looks for a way out of trouble, she must pit her wits against her nemesis, Bragi, a customs officer, whose years of experience frustrate her new and evermore daring strategies. Things become even more complicated when Sonia embarks on a relationship with a woman, Agla. Once a high-level bank executive, Agla is currently being prosecuted in the aftermath of the Icelandic financial crash. Set in a Reykjavík still covered in the dust of the Eyjafjallajökull volcanic eruption, and with a dark, fast-paced and chilling plot and intriguing characters, Snare is an outstandingly original and sexy Nordic crime thriller, from one of the most exciting new names in crime fiction. First and Foremost, Thank you to Orenda Books for sending me this book for free, in exchange of an honest review. I rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars.
This book was intense. I freaking loved it! Sonia proved to be one bad ass female, she had a kid to support, stripping is a thing of the past, smuggling drugs, that’s where the big money is, and Sonia rocked the hell out of it! The games that Sonia and Bragi played with each other was very much like a loaded game of chess. And I loved every second of it.
I really thought the author did a fantastic job pulling off the alternating characters/chapters. A hard feat to pull off without losing the attention span of some readers.
I found this book to be slow building, heavy hitting, and tense, with a gut punching conclusion. The kind of book that’s just going to stick with you. Kind of like a super dark and intense version of Breaking Bad.
Normally not my kind of read, but man, I loved everything about it!
