Book Review Of “13 Minutes” By Sarah Pinborough @flatironbooks @sarahpinborough

I was dead for 13 minutes.

I don’t remember how I ended up in the icy water but I do know this – it wasn’t an accident and I wasn’t suicidal.

They say you should keep your friends close and your enemies closer, but when you’re a teenage girl, it’s hard to tell them apart. My friends love me, I’m sure of it. But that doesn’t mean they didn’t try to kill me. Does it? (From Goodreads)

I rate this book a 4.5 out of 5 Stars.

First and Foremost, thank you Flatiron Books for sending me this ARC in exchange of an honest review.

I want it to be stated, I read BEHIND HER EYES by Sarah Pinborough last year, and it was my favorite read of the entire year, my mind is still blown by that book. So when the package from Flatiron came and I saw this book, I may or may not have totally fangirl’d a bit.

I am a HUGE fan of her writing. Nothing is predictable, clean-cut, or as it seems. While, I got some major Pretty Little Liars vibes with this book, and mixed heavily with a good dose of mental instability, it was still very original. And honestly I would have loved to see this kind of writing for PLL. (And that’s saying a lot, it was one of my favorite shows, books are good too) Something worth pointing out, in the state of this world right now, what ensues in this book, I could see happening in real life. And that’s a very scary thought.

Man, there are so many things I want to talk about in this book, but everything I want to say is a potential spoiler, However, what I will say is I am glad I am no longer a teenager, and I am glad I am no longer a high-school student. I’ve dealt with girls like this while I was a high-school student, It was rough, and you couldn’t pay me a million dollars to go back and do it again. Girls can be vicious. They are smiling in your face, while they are stabbing you in the back. How much can one take, before they snap?

I feel like fans of Mean Girls, Pretty Little Liars, and Riverdale, are going to devour this book, just as I did. I read 213 pages just today. I did not want to put it down, I had to see how this crazy ride ended. My final thoughts? This would make for one wicked good t.v. series! And I will forever be a Sarah Pinborough fan. Everything I read of hers is turning into an instant favorite.

They’re Teenagers, they’ve always got something to gossip about, Isn’t that right?
