Book Review Of “Everything We Keep” By Kerry Lonsdale
A luminous debut with unexpected twists, Everything We Keepexplores the devastation of loss, the euphoria of finding love again, and the pulse-racing repercussions of discovering the truth about the ones we hold dear and the lengths they will go to protect us.
Sous chef Aimee Tierney has the perfect recipe for the perfect life: marry her childhood sweetheart, raise a family, and buy out her parents’ restaurant. But when her fiancé, James Donato, vanishes in a boating accident, her well-baked future is swept out to sea. Instead of walking down the aisle on their wedding day, Aimee is at James’s funeral—a funeral that leaves her more unsettled than at peace.
As Aimee struggles to reconstruct her life, she delves deeper into James’s disappearance. What she uncovers is an ocean of secrets that make her question everything about the life they built together. And just below the surface is a truth that may set Aimee free…or shatter her forever (From Amazon)
**I rate this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars.**
I had been seeing a lot of this book, and even more of its sequel on Instagram, I had put it on my Amazon wish list, prior to seeing it all over on Insta. Low and behold Amazon Publishing contacted me about reviewing the second book. So I figured it was time to start “Everything We Keep” and guys, I am so happy I did.
Kerry Lonsdale writes in such a clean and precise way, I flew through this book. I did not find it predictable and I really enjoyed the twists that were placed strategically in the book. There is no back story dump, its scattered nicely throughout the whole story, so you’re not bogged down.
I felt that the character of Aimee was relate-able, I imagine that if I were to ever lose my husband, I would grieve in the exact manner that she did. It’s easy for people who are not in your shoes, to tell you what to do. I loved that everyone in this book acted based on love, and their desire to protect those close to them. This was just such a good book, I could say it was flawless, but of course that is my own opinion. But I am ready to dive right in to “Everything We Left Behind” and I am now, a total fangirl over Kerry Lonsdale!
