Guest Blog Post With Author Katie Clark

Hi Tracy,
Thanks so much for having me on your blog! I’m excited to introduce my latest novel, Shadowed Eden, to the world. Shadowed Eden follows Avery, Luca, and a small group of teenagers (some complete strangers!) as they navigate being lost in the middle of a strange desert oasis. Inside the oasis they find luscious fruit and crystal clear springs, but they quickly discover it isn’t all paradise. There are deadly sink holes and snakes, but worse is the strange presence that most of them feel. They find they have a very real problem when, no matter which way they trek, they can’t seem to leave!
I’ve been writing stories since I was a little girl, but I started writing professionally six years ago. I quickly gravitated to writing for the young adult audience when I realized that these were the books I liked reading. Some of my favorite authors are Jill Williamson and Melanie Dickerson, but there are so many others I could name. I like stories set in far away places, with larger than life problems that must be faced and overcome. One of my favorite sayings is by G.K. Chesterton. Fairy tales are not told to teach children there are dragons. Children already know there are dragons. They are told to teach them that dragons can be killed.
So very true, and so very relevant! The bad guy can be beaten. It’s an underlying theme of Shadowed Eden, but the overlying theme is that my main character, Avery, learns that she can do the overcoming. And so can we all. Happy reading!

What others have said about Shadowed Eden!
“A truly original premise, Shadowed Eden, is an exciting supernatural adventure filled with danger, redemption, and a cast of teenaged characters that I grew to love. I enjoyed Clark’s story and look forward to seeing what she comes up with next.” ~Jill Williamson, Christy Award-winning author of By Darkness Hid and To Darkness Fled

“Shadowed Eden is a unique and intriguing tale that will keep the reader turning pages, and the suspense doesn’t stop until its surprising end! I highly recommend it.” ~Melanie Dickerson, Carol Award-winning author of The Merchant’s Daughter
