Book Review of “Behind Closed Doors” by B.A. Paris

Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace. He has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance. You might not want to like them, but you do.

You’d like to get to know Grace better. But it’s difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are never apart.

Some might call this true love. Others might ask why Grace never answers the phone. Or how she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn’t work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. And why there are bars on one of the bedroom windows. (From Amazon) I rate it a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

This book releases, August 9th, 2016. I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC from St. Martin’s Press. So my review is going to be completely honest.

Before I had started reading this book, I had seen a few others post about it on Instagram. They spoke of how dark, and troubling it was. I am not going to lie, I hesitated a bit when it came time to read it. I read almost anything, but there are some very sensitive subjects that I don’t really care to read about. Domestic violence being one of them.

My fear with this book, was that it was going to be so in-depth, that my mind would not be able to unwind from the words in the book. Thankfully B.A. Paris did a great job of letting you know what was happening, without plastering it through out the pages of the  book. Once I started reading, it was so hard to put it down. Within the first few pages I was addicted to the story, I was so fearful for Grace and her sister Millie, that I found myself reading faster, so I could reach the end, and find out how this horrible story would conclude. And it ended PERFECTLY!

When this book comes out, do yourself a favor, and read it. The author really did such a great job, and it really will make you take a second look at the “perfect” couple.

“We go downstairs and in the hall, he takes my coat from the cupboard and holds it open while I slip my arms into it. In the drive outside, he holds the car door for me and waits until I’m in. As he closes it behind me, I can’t help thinking it’s a shame he’s such a sadistic bastard, because he has wonderful manners.” B.A. Paris
