Book Review of “Anna” by Megan Riley

*I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review*

While I have never read a book with this story-line before, I found this book to be written well, and I thought the premise was very creative and unique. I couldn’t quite figure out what was going on with Anna. Although I did like the family dynamics and I felt the author really achieved how hard it is to be a struggling single mom raising two kids.

I felt the love interest part of the story came off sort of, juvenile (it felt like the author was trying to hard on her perception of how high-school girls behave). I don’t quite know how to articulate it. I really cannot let on to much of the plot of this book, because you really do not find out what’s going on (unfortunately) until the last 2-3 chapters. There is a lot of filler leading up to the big plot twist. Some may enjoy that, and some may get bored and not finish the book. It is classified as a Sci-Fi book, but to be honest it felt more contemporary to me. Which is one of my favorite genres of books.

With all that being said, I did enjoy the book. I read it within 24 hours. I would most definitely pick up the 2nd book, she really pulled me in during the last chapter.  I was left full of curiosity of what’s going to happen to Anna and Steve, and their families. I’m excited to read more.
